Hi Guys,
Not really sure that this falls under replays but I wasn't sure where to put it so here it is. I got my negro league season for the computer game today and just had to play a game. And boy was I glad I did, here is the stats for this wild & crazy game.
Kansas City Monarchs vs Pittsburgh Crawfords. The winner of the game was the Monrachs 8 -6 over the Crawfords.
Joe Rogan for Pittsburgh was thowing a 3 hit shutout going into the top of the 9th inning over S. Paige of the Monrachs. Pittsburgh was winning 6-0 at that point. However the Monrachs scored 8 runs in the inning. They sent 13 batters to the plate 10 of them reached base and 8 of them scored. It was T. Scales 3 run homer that sent the Monrachs on the war path. So in the end it was the Monrachs rally that won the game for S. Paige and spoiled J. Rogan's outstanding performance up to that point. Here are some of the game stats:
Pittsburgh: IP H R ER BB K's HR
J. Rogan 8 1/3 4 3 3 3 6 1

Hitting: AB R H Rbi's = T HR K SB
P. Hill 5 3 3 1 1 0 0 1 3
T. Carr 4 0 2 4 0 0 0 2 1

Kansas City: IP H R ER BB K's HR
S. Paige 8 9 6 4 3 10 0

Hitting: AB R H Rbi's = T HR K SB
R. Parnell 2 1 2 1 0 0 0 0 0
T. Scales 5 1 1 3 0 0 1 1 0
J. Wilson 4 1 2 0 1 0 0 1 0
R. Dandridge 4 1 2 1 0 0 0 0 0

So there you have it my very first game from the negro leagues. It was just one of many games to come my way with this set thats for sure. Speed, pitching, hitting for average, power, defence, just some of the highlights of this set after looking over the cards. In closing I'm sorry if this posting is in the wrong place but after playing this wild game I just had to post the stats with a little story line. For those of you who are still waiting for your sets trust me when you get them or the computer version you will be very pleased with the work that went into them. Good luck with your negro league projects.

Hi Guys,
Well it's early Friday morning and I came to work early today with the high hopes to getting out and home early. I want to get back to playing a few more games before I get back to my projects. But thanks for the feed back. I really do think that a lot of the other guys will be posting some of their game stats & reports regarding the set over the next couple of days now that the weekend is almost upon us. I think we are all waiting for those postings to come rolling in shortly, and I know that I can't wait to see how they play out. Have a good weekend everyone.

Nice and keep us posted, I just got back home from a biz trip to find a little UPS package from Glen Head, NY. containing 108 glossy cards from Homestead, Hilldale, Memphis and others.
Just sent my order in today.
J.Q., it looks like you're having a blast!
I bet we'll have Negro League game threads popping up like crazy shortly!
seajaw,
After all these years of playing this game that we all love so much, I have to admit that I had the same feeling of excitement like I did when I first opened up my very first game box over 40 some years ago. When I downloaded my season into the computer you could have heard me saying come on, hurry up, lets go. And when I saw the screen come to life and saw the player photos that I had downloaded weeks ago I had the biggest smile on my face. As the game moved along and I could see the players cards on the screen I found myself stopping and looking them over like I was studying for a final exam. Then when the game was finish and I had secured the come from behind win I couldn't wait to post it. So yes I guess you could say that I'm having a blast but I can assure you that I won't be the only one thats for sure. As far as the threads that will be popping up I can't wait to read them. So those of you who are out there waiting for them to come I hope that they arrive ASAP for you. However in the mean time get your fingers loosen up because you will want to post your game stats & stories concerning this set. In the mean time I'm going to play a few games tonight. You know I just thought of something. I'm already starting to look forward to the first real snow storm so that I can stay home from work and play all day. Now that I think about it I sure hope the boss isn't a member of our site, na. He told me that he never even heard of Strat before so I'll just keep it that way. What a lost soul he is. Thank you Strat-O-Matic for that brain storm.

The set is worth having if only for the nicknames. Check these out:
Double-Duty Radcliffe
Superman Pennington
Tubby Scales
Mule Suttles
Oscar Heavy Johnson
Tank Carr
Why can't today's players have names likes this? I'll throw out a few for starters:
Greasehead Utley
Porky Sabathia
Deathface Rivera
Vlad Noodles Guerrero
They don't make nicknames like they used to. Nowadays, the height of creativity is A-Rod/F-Rod/K-Rod.
I miss the Arkansas Hummingbird (my fave -- Lon Warneke).
delsea, you are right on! We are like kids at Christmastime when the UPS truck shows up.
Boileryard Clarke
Dick (Dr. Strangeglove) Stuart
Billy (The Little Globetrotter) Earle
Frank (Dodo) Bird
John (Snags) Heidrich
Pud (Gentle Jeems, The Little Steam Engine) Galvin
Roger (The Duke of Tralee) Bresnahan
Kick (Father) Kelly
Oscoar (Cotton) Siemer
Grover (Slick) Hartley
