Hi Guys,
Well it's getting closes to that time of year again when Spring Training Baseball will be starting very soon. Also it is the beginning of my postings regarding the 2017 Spring Classic Tournament for the Village and it's members. This will be the 9th season of this annual tournament boy where has the time gone. Below is a list of important dates regarding the 2017 SCT. I have just finished up selecting the teams that will be competing in this years tournament. I truly believe that we will have another strong field of teams competing for the title this year. The two fields of 16 teams combined from both the AL & NL along with 1 team from the Negro Leagues and 2 teams from the Japanese League have been selected. Of course the 2016 SCT Champions the 2014 Washington Nationals will be returning as they try to defend their title and be the first team to ever repeat as SCT Champions.
If you recall the first 5 seasons were won by the American League, however the last 3 seasons have been won by the National League. So it should be very interesting to see who will step forward this year and win this covenant title. Below you will find the list of important dates for the 2017 SCT.

Tuesday February 14th 2017- Posting the list of the teams from the Leagues that will be competing.
Wednesday March 1st 2017- Posting the 1st round match-ups for both Divisions.
Saturday March 25th 2017- Posting the pitching match-ups for the first round.
Monday April 3rd 2017- The 2017 Spring Classic Tournament Opening Day.

I hope everyone will enjoy this years SCT and I look forward to bringing it to our members here in the Village. I want to thank everyone for your continued support of this project.
SCT. Commissioner J.Q.

I really liked that 1983 ChiSox team - rookie sensation Ron Kittle and The Bull's last stand.  I sooo wanted them to beat the O's and square off against the Wheez Kids in Philly.  They are my sentimental sleeper pick.

Hi tweek,
I think both of the Yankee teams the 39 & 54 teams will go far in the tournament. But round one has derailed many a good team during the history of this tournament over the years. The first two rounds being the best of 3 and then a best of 5 games puts enough pressure on a team that it only takes one stumble here or there and your on the outside looking in. It's very tough when you face one quality team after another to get a breather. It's not until round 3 & 4 do you play a best 7 games so I guess you can say that is a little bit of one. But then again now your up against the cream of the crop teams. This is what I always enjoyed about this tournament it's pressure from the start to finish that is why it's so hard to repeat as Champions. And who knows maybe your sleeper team the 83 Pale Hose can sneak in under the radar. Either way I'm looking forward to this years SCT with a lot of excitement.

Ah, It must be spring. I expect the 1939 Yankees to romp for a while. The 1954 Yankees were always hard for me to manage so I will be curious how they do. Of course, I'm rooting for my 2016 Indians (keep Trevor Bauer away from his drones, please). In the NL. look out for the '98 Astros featuring The Big Unit

Hi Guys,
After finding out today that we lost our founder and good friend Ken Rezzdogg last week. I have decided to dedicate this years 2017 SCT in his memory. Ken was a big supporter of this annual project so I thought it only right to dedicate this years tournament to him. This ones for you Big Guy.

Ron Kittle, Vance Law, and Greg Walker all played for the Glens Falls NY White Sox prior to being called up to the parent club.  I saw Kittle hit a number of tape measure shots, but Walker was a far better technical hitter.  There was another guy on that team, Vince Bienick, who hit a homer one day over the 410' mark in centerfield; THAT ball carried at LEAST 75' over the fence and bounced in the middle of the tennis courts.  It was a blast.

The 1916 Red Sox were a great team with no offense, but they only allowed 480 runs. It should be interesting to see what they can do.

Hi Mike,
Your right about the 1916 Red Sox there isn't a whole lot of offence in their lineup. However the pitching will be what carry's this team.
